Rope (or Dhupaya) incense is traditional to the indigenous people of the Newari Community in Nepal.   It is made by wrapping finely powdered herbs in thins strips of handmade Nepalese Lokta paper and gently twisted to form a rope-like incense.  Rope style incense are popular in Hindu and Buddhist traditions with incense being burnt daily as an offering to the Gods or during daily meditation.
