Contribute to The Sacred Willow Blog
The Sacred Willow Blog is always looking for practical and actionable original articles on topics that matter to the spiritual community.
If you have exceptional writing and/or design skills and would like to share your expertise with an audience of like minded pagan, wiccan and spiritual people we'd love to hear from you.
Subjects we focus on include -- but are not limited to – Herbs / alchemy, Incense, Crystals, astrology, Magick, Wicca / Witcraft, Paganism, various eastern religions, esoteric topics, and essential oils among other things.
Please take some time to review this entire page -- it should answer any question you have about what kind of content we're looking for and how the submission process works.
Submissions should:
- Be 100% original and not published anywhere else.
- Be well-written, clear, interesting, and above all, helpful.
- Provide attribution for all data or statistics cited with a hyperlink.
- Have a logical structure and flow.
- Not be self-promotional.
- Include a one- to two-sentence author bio with a headshot and may include a link to your blog or facebook page (unpaid articles only).
- Include all images as separate attachments (you must own the rights to any images). No pics? No worries, we can cover that for you.
- Submissions must be comprehensive, interesting and teach our readers something new.
- Incorporate utility content. Share templates, checklists, step-by-step instructions.
- Give credit. Check your facts and quotations. Cite your sources.
- Use subheadings and bullets/lists, where appropriate, to make it easy for the reader to consume the information.
- Include a strong, compelling introduction and a conclusion that wraps up the article or provides a call to action.
- A short article will be between 500-700
- A long article will be between 800 and 1,500 words; however, don’t sacrifice depth for brevity.
5 Important Caveats:
- Editors reserve the right to reject contributions at their discretion. Understand that we get pitched a lot of posts and as much as we would love to, we are not able to use everything we receive. Recognise that sometimes we have to decline posts because of their content or quality and sometimes because we have too many posts on a specific topic.
- Contributors may not republish their published contributions to The Sacred Willow blog anywhere else.
- Editors reserve the right to edit, adapt, update, and republish contributions at their discretion. Note that this is professional website, which means your work will go through an editing process and may be published in a slightly amended format. This includes our choice of headline, final copy and images
- Calls-to-action to The Sacred Willow content may be added to published submissions.
- In rare cases, contributed posts may be removed from the blog.
- Your submissions may also be used in email and newsletters.
What We Won't Publish
There are some things we simply can't accept:
- Anything that's been covered on our blog before. Please do a search of our site before submitting your articles.
- Articles that are clearly part of a link building campaign. Including links to your homepage or contact form in the body of the article is a clear sign of this.
- Anything that's too promotional for your company or organization.
- Anything with explicit content.
- Anything that's offensive or inaccurate.
- Articles that criticize companies or individuals; this is not a site to air grievances.
- Articles that have appeared on other blogs or news outlets.
- Contributors must own the rights to any content published on The Sacred Willow Blog.
How to Submit Your Article

The Fine Print
While we make every effort to preserve your voice, we will edit your content for grammar and clarity. We may also update it in the future for accuracy and comprehensiveness. In addition, The Sacred Willow reserves the right to include calls-to-action to The Sacred Willow content, including but not limited to email newsletters, ebooks, and other downloadable content.
Payment for Written Work
The Sacred Willow provides payment for original work along standard industry lines. This rate varies depending on the writer and your previous contributions to our blog, however. “Original work” means the post cannot have been previously published elsewhere, including on a personal blog.
If you are not seeking payment for your work, please note this in your correspondence.
Thank you for your interest in contributing to the The Sacred Willow Blog. We look forward to receiving your work.
