Silenus Holding Baby Dionysus Statue ~ Fatherhood, Mentoring, Nurture 25cm
Associated with mentoring and fatherhood, Silenus was the supernatural creature entrusted by Zeus to raise the God child, Dionysus. In Greek Mythology, Silenus, (son of Hermes) was foremost among the woodland spirits (he is depicted here with a small set of horns). Exceptionally wise and gentle, he was chosen as the foster father of Dionysus and in this statue the infant Dionysus is enfolded within the loving arms of Silenus, his strong and protective guardian. The green colours of the forest have been chosen to further emphasise the relationship between man and the environment.
Made from cold cast resin this statue has a green finish with glints of gold highlights. The statue measures approximately 25cm high, on a base which is 10cm long and 6cm wide.
